At the top of the Mount Rose pass there is a meadow. Like so many of the places in the Sierra it has a rich history. The Washoe tribe would spend their summers in this lofty place, the gold and silver miner denuded it, it is a skiers paradise, an environmentalists cause. It is a place of short hikes, long excursions, mountain bikes, snow mobiles, and it is the gateway to to the East side of Tahoe.
